Mojang's Notch, a smart man in the field of game design and management of the company's 20 millionplus Minecraft players is a great choice. The designer has posted an open poll on his personal blog to determine whether his cuboid constituents would feel comfortable with the idea of collecting various kinds of anonymous data from its players.

Mojang currently tracks only when a player logins to the game. Notch proposes to track "non-private" information, like the length of a gameplay session and the type of OS, whether you are playing in a single or multi-player mode and whether you are using the client or web applet. The data gathered will be made available to the community, "as usual."

Notch said that the data will be sent "naturally" anonymously. Minecraft server list "So it won't include any details about your session or user name, and it won't provide any sensitive information you don't want to disclose." To be honest, we're quite surprised that this kind of data wasn't already collected.
