Minecraft 1.19 launches today, bringing the Wild Update's new biomes, mobs, and technical changes. It's the last push of (almost) all the new features originally presented to players during Minecraft Live in 2020 and the third of three major updates.

As always there aren't any secrets hiding away on launch day, Minecraft game director Agnes Larsson and developer Ulraf Vaknin have assured me. Mojang is as dedicated to feedback from players as ever-or otherwise, why bother with snapshot builds, release candidate builds, and betas-and the developers talked about the changes that 1.19 was undergoing following the first hands-on experience of players.

The dangerous Wardens could have seen the most transformation throughout the course of development. "That was a time when we were looking for feedback from both our technical players and our challengers," Vaknin explains. In their March debut snapshot the Wardens were already quite frightening when I first attempted to play with them. Servers They made a terribly intense heartbeat when they were angry, roared in my face and destroyed every single chicken I brought into their path to distract them.

They now have a sonic assault too, a ranged ability emanating from their chests to fight players who managed to cleverly get out of their arms and reach. Based on feedback from Minecraft players who enjoy the redstone tech in Minecraft, the Skulk, the new Warden summoning blocks, also got a new design.

Minecraft update: What's new? Minecraft skins (opens new tab). New looks Minecraft mods. Beyond vanilla Minecraft shaders. Spotlight Minecraft seeds. New worlds to explore. Servers Minecraft texture pack. Pixelated Minecraft servers. All cheats.

Vaknin says, "It's quite technical." He then explains that the Skulk sensors stopped registering the first sound that is in the code and now respond to the nearest sound. "We examined some devices that people tried to create, but they didn't work due to some glitches in the code. We altered it to be more natural."

Feedback also continues to have a huge influence on ideas that Mojang decides to leave. In the lead to the Wild Update, fireflies, originally touted as a food source for frogs for Minecraft Live 2020, were a surprising topic of contention. A recent Q&A video was titled "What did the fireflies do in Minecraft 1.19?"

Anna Lundgren, the producer of that video, explained that players have pointed out how fireflies could cause poisoning in frogs. In our chat, Larsson and Vaknin elaborate that it wasn't only players who raised the alarm. Vaknin states that pet shop owners reached out to me and stated that this was already a problem due to people not being aware of the issue. "So people already make this mistake, and when Minecraft increases the likelihood of this happening, it creates a bigger problem."

"We have millions of players," Larsson says. Larsson says, "And that should come with a great responsibility. We realized that releasing a feature such as fireflies which can be poisonous for frogs and then letting Frogs eat them could result in people killing real frogs.

We have millions of players and that comes with a lot of responsibility.

My gut instinct is to defend developers changing their minds on features in development for just about any reason however Larsson's more rational explanation is probably the more sensible one. Minecraft has been more than a game for a long time. It's now being marketed as an educational tool. New Minecraft features aren't limited to Bedrock vs. Java editions or PC or Xbox interfaces, Mojang also has to consider its roles as both entertainment and education for its huge audience of young kids.

With no fireflies serving as frog food Larsson claims that the scope of the new bugs was vastly smaller. Mojang decided to eliminate them entirely for now and move them back to the grand idea catalog and focusing on the quality of other features that are in the pipeline.

Vaknin is excited to discover new Allay friends flying through homes and building. Larsson is a player who is a true friend of mine, is thrilled about finding new mangrove swamps, and building new buildings with the mangrove wood set, which is reddish, and mud blocks.

Minecraft 1.19 launches today with a long list of notes on patches and is available as a brand new version within your Minecraft Launcher. Today is also the day that all Minecraft users will be able to access both Java or Bedrock versions of Minecraft regardless of whether they previously owned one.
