Teenager Arrested Over Mass Faculty Bomb Hoax

After a huge bomb hoax shut down hundreds of colleges and schools across the UK, the teen believed to be at the center of an Minecraft gamers feud was arrested.



Hertfordshire police detained the 19-year-old following 24,000 threatening emails to schools were warned of a bomb attack , and soliciting money.



These emails appeared to have been sent by VeltPvP which is a gaming network. VeltPvP is a Minecraft player-versus-player server of the type that businesses utilize to sell their products to gamers.



A teenager thought to be at the center of the Minecraft gamers' squabble was detained following a mass bomb hoax closed hundreds of schools across the UK. The 19-year old was arrested by Hertfordshire police after 24,000 emails were sent to schools warning them of an imminent attack



The emails were intended to cause the domain to be shut down because of abuse. They are believed to be sent by a group aiming to discredit VeltPvP. Minecraft



The National Crime Agency (NCA) has stated that there was no credible threat to the emails that were received this week.

The statement read"We understand parents' and teachers concern, but stress that there was no real threat to the schools' emails.



We are however taking these communications very seriously. As this is a live investigation, we cannot comment further.'



Signs were erected outside Cardinal Road School in Feltham in the aftermath of the bomb hoax emails



Those involved in the feud claimed that the rivals were involved in illegal acts to hinder one another's businesses.



When asked whether he regretted the effect the letters had on the schoolchildren who were compelled to leave, one of the hoaxers replied, "It is terrible, it's not the best thing."



In blaming VeltPvP the hoaxer claimed VeltPvP was involved in a campaign of Direct Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks - which he alleges were used to shut down other rival Minecraft servers.



Parents were urged to collect their children following the bomb hoax threat email



In an announcement, VeltPvP said: 'We've been targeted by cybercriminals who are trying to smear us in any way possible.



"We are extremely sorry for those who were affected by this, but we want to let you know that it is fake."



The email was sent to more than 400 schools and colleges across the country. It claimed that the bomb was already planted and would explode if the money was not given.



Cardinal Road School in Feltham west of London, was among the schools that were targeted by the fake email.



Police forces from London, Bristol, Liverpool and Bedfordshire were among those who investigated.



Parents at some schools requested to to pick their children up amid fears over the emails.



Six schools in Hertfordshire were also affected: Abbots Hill, Valley School, Stevenage, The Sele School, Duncombe School, Stanborough School, Watford, St Albans High School, and Valley School.
