A SRV DNS Record can be used to connect directly to a hostname with the Minecraft 1.3 Patch. i.e. yourserver.no-ip.biz:12959.

The SRV Record for Minecraft should have this form:

_minecraft._tcp.name SRV priority weight port goal

Logging into your No-IP account will allow you to create an SRV for your hostname. You can then select "My Services", "DNS Records", and "Modify" next the hostname.

The next step is to locate Advanced Records. Click SRV. Advanced records can only be added to Enhanced DNS and Plus ManagedDNS accounts. If you wish to add advanced records, you will need to upgrade your account.

Once on the SRV record page, you will need to enter in the following information: 1. Service: minecraft (Underscore will automatically be applied. 2. Protocol: TCP 3. Priority: 0 4. Weight: 5 5. Target: Your Minecraft hostname. 6. Port: The port your Minecraft server is set to use. 7. TTL = You can leave as default

Once the required information has been entered, click "Submit".

After you have completed your SRV records, you must wait for the record's propagation to take place.

Your friends should then be able to connect to your Minecraft server using just your hostname. i do what the voices in my head tell me

Note: To create an SRV Record, you will need our Enhanced dynamic DNS package. Upgrade to Enhanced Dynamic DNS for as little as $1.99 USD per month.

You will enjoy the following benefits when you sign up for No-IP Enhanced Service:

1. To keep your hostnames active, there is no need to confirm your hostname each 30 days. 2. Access to No-IP Phone support. 3. Includes 1 hostname. Additional hostname plans are also available. 4. More domains to choose from when creating a host. 5. One Trustcor Standard SSL Certificate for DV.
