Over ten years after its release, a rare early version of Minecraft was believed to have disappeared. Minecraft Alpha 1.1.1 was released in September 2010 for the first time as the Java Edition. It was only available for three hours. Gaming archive experts have discovered it.

Over the years there have been hundreds on hundreds of Minecraft versions. SERVER TRACKER Fans have meticulously collected and archived a lot of them to preserve. One version called Alpha 1.1.1, or Seecret Saturday was thought to be lost. While it introduced fishing rods and sneaking to Minecraft however, it was found to have a game-breaking glitch that caused the screen to turn completely gray, so was replaced within a couple of hours by version 1.1.2.

@lunasorcery, through Kotaku and Kotaku, shared the entire story of its re-discovery on Twitter. As Luna says the story, Alpha 1.1.1 was a cult or even a holy grail of the Minecraft archiving Discord Omniarchive and no one of them expected to discover it.

Someone stumbled across one of Luna's old tweets, and inquired about it, and she eventually discovered an old backup of minecraft.jar dated the same as Alpha 1.1.1's release - September 18 October, 2010. Luna looked over the file and confirmed that it was indeed Alpha 1.1.1 which she later published on Omniarchive which then exploded. SERVER TRACKER

So I wrote in Omniarchive and it wouldn't be understatement to say that some people were interested.

From the reactions, the reality of how big a find this is begins to take hold. I feel like I'm shaking.
