HIDDEN LINKS

"The mystery of immortality" is an extraordinary film, filled with climate, style and beauty pulsating from the screen. It tells about the eternal vampire - Miriam Blaylock, who has been living in constant hunger for millennia - hunger for blood, beauty, art and ... closeness. That is why he surrounds himself with wonderful sculptures, plays the piano, always at the side of a lover created by a death kiss. The love of her life does not realize, however, that eternal youth will not really be eternal, and after time Miriam will seek solace in the arms of a new person. At the same time, we observe doctor Sarah, who is trying hard to discover the principle of the biological clock in humans and is trying to reveal the eternal mystery of immortality. She herself does not realize that soon she will have an opportunity to do so ... The director of "The Mystery of Immortality" was Tony Scott, who openly admitted to a great aversion towards the genre of horror.

Ironically, so, you could say, he created a work that fits perfectly into the horror framework, but also goes far beyond it, being in a class of its own. "Zagadka ..." is an amazing, stylish film, almost lyrical about the world of vampires, their thoughts and feelings. The protagonists of the film do not fit into the typical framework known to screen bloodsuckers: they are beasts who, despite their inhuman bloodlust, have extremely human emotions, perceive the world in a similar way to ours, crave warmth and love, the betrayed feel the most genuine bitterness and regret. Such an extraordinary interior was perfectly shown thanks to the fantastic cast - Susan Sarandon, Catherine Deneuve and David Bowie performed their roles excellently, creating characters full and believable, and above all, close to the viewer. The quality of the film is also evidenced by its performance. The photos taken by Stephen Goldblatt are characterized by a perfect style, they show the characters and the world around them in a slow and precise manner, creating an aura both close to and distant from humanity. The dense atmosphere is also enhanced by amazing music - ranging from electronic to real classics (including Bach's pieces), the soundtrack provides many impressions and interesting aesthetic experiences. The sounds pouring out of the speakers perfectly emphasize the situation on the screen, giving it the right piquancy and expression.

Also, some sounds can pierce the recipient right through, while others put him in a state of bliss, incredible harmony and beauty.

In this case, the script also works great. A simple, seemingly banal story has been shown in a real way, full of numerous references and references to vampire stories known to us, but above all, it is vibrant with life. The heroes thrown into the whirlwind of this uncomplicated story present a range of various emotions, they are unable to find themselves in a new situation, and at all costs try to avoid destiny. In addition, the director gives us a moral conflict for consideration - can the harm caused be explained by a feeling of loneliness? Where will our blind lust for final answers lead us? So "The Riddle of Immortality" is an unusual film - morally repulsive, but at the same time fascinating with its hidden beauty.

For the first time, vampire figures do not discourage, but hypnotically attract attention, charm and keep you from being distracted; ugliness turns out to be fascinating and alluring, and blood really does seem to be ... the source of life. But is it happiness? Therefore, this film is one of the few that allows us to identify with vampire characters, while putting us as far away from them as possible ..
